9-5-08 Since I am a freelance writer by profession, but have joined CEO Space for the left brain part of my life, I thought to combine them in a way that might help others. I thought I would start at square one of my relationship with CEO Space and blog my journey. As of the writing of this first blog, I am fairly new to the whole thing having only attended three local meetings and one capital raising class offered by Gale Connell. I have yet to attend a forum, although we are signed up to go in a few weeks, and I am just starting to meet some of the people. Speaking of the people, wow! Nothing but positive so far and I have seen nothing to cause me to think that will change. But let me go back to the beginning. I have to be honest; when I first heard of CEO Space (IBI at the time) I was dubious to say the least. I frankly though that the person I knew who was getting involved was going to get ripped off. The man’s name is Wen Boley and I knew him as a musician who knew NOTHING about business. He was telling me that this “group” was going to teach him everything he needed to know and help him get going. “Too good to be true” is all I could tell myself. He had this cool little idea called Sticky Sheets™ and he jumped in with both feet. Time passed and I watched him find success after success. I was intrigued and impressed. Well my life came to a major crossroads. I was laid off from a job I really didn’t like anyway where I was literally being forced to get a real estate license I didn’t want. About the same time, my brilliant, and beautiful, daughter graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in business that she earned in only 3 years. She had watched all of what I had gone through in corporate America and was feeling a bit disillusioned. There we stood, side by side, wondering what we were going to do next. Ideas bounced around, motivating factors lined up, and synchronicities started happening in such a way it was beyond clear what we needed to do. Over the years I had kept a small notebook with “ideas.” We decided that we would start a company that would allow us to take some of these ideas and make them realities. Heck, we had just watched Wen do it. It was possible. So we jumped and through more wonderful synchronicities, landed smack dab in CEO Space. Our first meeting was in Westminster Colorado, a good two hour drive for us coming from Colorado Springs, right at rush hour. It was worth every minute and mile it took to get there. The kindness of the people was amazing, the information presented at this very FREE meeting was astounding and my daughter/partner and I walked away a bit stunned. Gale Connell was the speaker and he was comfortable, humorous and informative. He made us hungry for more! That’s all for today and the next installment will be about our first meeting with BJ Dohrmann, Paul Pfeifer and some of the other amazing people and surprises we have had along the way. All good things, Sky
